US Secretary of State Blinken discusses Gaza with Israeli Foreign Minister Sa'ar
In a meeting with Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken emphasized the importance of establishing lasting peace and security for both Israelis and Palestinians.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken held a phone call with Israel's new Foreign Minister, Gideon Sa'ar. In a statement released by the US Department of State, it was noted, "Secretary Blinken spoke with Israeli Foreign Minister Sa'ar to congratulate him on his appointment. The Secretary reaffirmed the United States' unwavering commitment to Israel's security."
The statement, which noted that the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip was also discussed, said, "He discussed recent steps Israel has taken to increase the flow of humanitarian aid into Gaza, including food, medicine, and other essential supplies. He urged Israel to take additional steps to accelerate and sustain the delivery of life-saving assistance."
The statement also indicated that a ceasefire in Gaza was discussed, adding, "The Secretary emphasized the importance of ending the war in Gaza, returning all hostages to their homes, and establishing lasting peace and security for both Israelis and Palestinians. The Secretary and the Foreign Minister also discussed the need for a diplomatic solution in Lebanon that allows Israeli and Lebanese civilians to return to their homes."
