US: Sinwar's death is a turning point to end the war

US National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby claimed that Sinwar was the biggest obstacle to achieving a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, stating, "We believe, and we continue to believe, that ending the war is of critical importance. We believe that Sinwar's death could create a turning point to achieve this result."

Noting that ceasefire negotiations in the Gaza Strip are not currently ongoing, Kirby said, "I wish I could tell you today that we are bringing the teams back together in Doha and making a fresh start. That is not where we are right now."

US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin argued that Sinwar's death is an opportunity for a change in direction in both Gaza and Lebanon.

Regarding Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's pledge to continue attacking the Gaza Strip unless Hamas surrenders and releases all hostages, Austin stated, "We will see how things develop."

Austin added, "But it is clear that there are opportunities for a change in direction, and we hope that the parties in both Gaza and Lebanon will take advantage of this." The US Secretary emphasized that US forces in the Middle East are ready to support Israel's defense.
