US Special Envoy for Syria Barrack meets with SDF leader Abdi in Erbil

US Ambassador to Ankara and Special Envoy for Syria Tom Barrack visited the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI) and attended a meeting hosted by Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) President Masoud Barzani. A statement from Barzani's office noted that the meeting was also attended by US Consul General in Erbil Wendy Green, commander of US forces in Syria General Kevin Lambert, and Colonel Zekeriya Kurk.

It was stated that the meeting also included the participation of Kurdish National Council (ENKS) President Muhammad Ismail and Mazlum Abdi, the leader of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), which is the Syrian branch of the terrorist organization PKK/YPG.

The statement indicated that developments in Syria were discussed at the meeting, noting: "President Barzani welcomed the participants and expressed his satisfaction with their attendance under the current circumstances, emphasizing the importance of maintaining peace and preventing violence. He drew attention to the importance of dialogue, stability, and coexistence in the context of a new Syria."

It was announced that during the remainder of the meeting, the parties exchanged views on various issues and discussed practical steps toward ensuring stability in the region.
