Statement from the US on the transfer of power in Syria! How will the transition process work?

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken issued a written statement regarding the developments in Syria.

Stating that the Syrian people now have reasons to be hopeful after 14 years of conflict, Blinken announced that the US supports an inclusive and peaceful transition process led by Syrians.

Blinken assessed, "The Assad regime's rejection of a credible political process since 2011 and its reliance on the inhumane support of Russia and Iran led to its downfall."

Noting that the Syrian people have the right to demand the preservation of state institutions, the restoration of basic services, and the protection of vulnerable communities during the transition process, Blinken emphasized that the US will closely monitor developments by engaging with its partners in the region.

Blinken stated that they will support international efforts to hold the Assad regime and its supporters accountable for the crimes they have committed.

Noting that they have taken note of the statements made by opposition leaders in recent days, Blinken said, "As they take on more responsibility, we will look not only at their words but also at their actions."

Blinken reiterated his call for all parties to respect human rights, protect civilians, and adhere to international humanitarian law.

WHAT HAS HAPPENED IN SYRIA IN THE LAST 11 DAYS?

Clashes between anti-regime armed groups and Bashar al-Assad's forces intensified in Syria on November 27.

Between November 30 and December 7, the groups gained dominance in major provinces such as Aleppo, Idlib, Hama, and Homs.

As the public began to support the groups that started entering the capital, Damascus, on December 7, the regime lost control entirely in Damascus and many other regions, leading to its collapse.

While the 61-year rule of the Baath Party came to an end, regime leader Assad fled the capital.

The Syrian National Army, after liberating Tel Rifaat, which was under the occupation of the terrorist organization PKK/YPG near the Turkish border, turned its focus toward the terrorists entrenched in Manbij.
