US strikes 3 boats over allegations of drug trafficking in Eastern Pacific and Caribbean
11 people lost their lives in attacks carried out by the US military on 3 boats alleged to be transporting drugs in the Eastern Pacific and the Caribbean.
The US military has carried out new attacks in the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean as part of its fight against drug traffickers.
In a statement issued by the US Southern Command (SOUTHCOM), it was stated that the joint task force conducting Operation Southern Spear, under the orders of SOUTHCOM Commander General Francis L. Donovan, carried out attacks on 3 boats allegedly used by "terrorist organizations" for drug trafficking.
The statement noted that intelligence confirmed the boats were navigating along known drug trafficking routes and were engaged in drug trafficking activities.
The statement, which reported that 11 people lost their lives in the attacks, indicated that 8 people were killed in the attack on two boats in the Eastern Pacific, and 3 people were killed in the attack on one boat in the Caribbean.
It was announced that no US forces were harmed during the attacks.
