US strikes Al-Qaeda in Syria: Organization leader killed

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a statement on Tuesday that its forces conducted a strike in Syria on October 2 that killed a high-level Al-Qaeda-linked attack planner.

"Muhammad ‘Abd-al-Wahhab al-Ahmadi was a member of Ansar al-Islam, an Al-Qaeda-affiliated terrorist organization," CENTCOM said in its statement.

CENTCOM Commander Admiral Brad Cooper stated that US forces in the Middle East are prepared to "disrupt and degrade" the efforts of terrorists to plan, organize, and carry out attacks.

"We will continue to defend our homeland, our warfighters, our allies, and our partners throughout the region and beyond," Cooper added.
