US Supreme Court strikes down Trump's tariffs
The US Supreme Court has ruled that the International Emergency Economic Powers Act does not grant the President the authority to impose tariffs.
US President Donald Trump had stated that he had been waiting for months for the US Supreme Court's decision regarding tariffs, asserting that he had the right to impose tariffs on the grounds of national security.
Trump had said, "If it weren't for the tariffs, this country would be in great trouble right now," noting that he had been waiting for the US Supreme Court's decision on the tariffs for months.
Claiming that those who filed the lawsuit were "China-focused individuals and those with business in China," Trump argued that these people wanted to continue robbing the US.
In an angry tone, Trump had stated that he had to wait for this decision, expressing that as President, he had the right to implement the tariffs.
US President Trump had used the expression, "I have the right to impose tariffs on countries that have been robbing us for years on the grounds of national security."
