Unemployment benefit claims in the US remain below expectations
The number of people filing for unemployment benefits for the first time in the US came in at 208,000 for the week ending April 27, falling below expectations.
The US Department of Labor has released the weekly data regarding unemployment benefit claims.
Accordingly, the number of people filing for unemployment benefits for the first time in the country remained unchanged from the previous week, totaling 208,000 for the week ending April 27.
The number of claims, which came in below market expectations and continued to remain at its lowest level in 2 months, had been projected to be 212,000.
REVISED UPWARD
The previous week's data on unemployment benefit claims was revised upward, increasing from 207,000 to 208,000.
As of last week, the 4-week moving average of unemployment benefit claims decreased by 3,500 to 210,000.
The number of continuing unemployment benefit claims remained unchanged for the week ending April 20, standing at 1 million 74 thousand.
