US Vice President Vance has left Switzerland

US Vice President James David Vance has left Switzerland following a 36-hour round of negotiations with Iran. In a statement to reporters at the airport, Vance said, "First, we have established a mechanism not to open the Strait of Hormuz, but to ensure it remains open. Second, we have established the right mechanism to ensure a regional ceasefire. For the first time in a long time, the Iranians are allowing weapons inspectors and nuclear inspectors to enter the country. And finally, we continue to make progress in these technical negotiations."

Arguing that one cannot trust Iran's words, Vance stated, "You cannot trust anyone's words; you have to trust what they are actually doing. Allowing inspectors into the country is an important step, but we will see what they actually allow them to do once the inspectors are in the country. This will be a constant part of our negotiations," he said.

Stating that Iran's frozen funds will not be released if there is no progress, Vance added, "This will, of course, be an important part of the negotiations to be held in the coming days."

Claim of a new "de-confliction mechanism" for Lebanon

Israel-based Channel 12 television had claimed that a new "de-confliction mechanism" for Lebanon had been established within the scope of the US-Iran talks and that Israel was not included in the mechanism in question. The report alleged that the mechanism limited Israel's military operations to responding only to "imminent and direct threats," and stated that the US, Iran, Lebanon, Qatar, and Pakistan were involved in the mechanism.
