US Vice President Vance holds face-to-face meeting with Iranian delegation

New developments have emerged regarding the talks held between the US and Iran in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan. While uncertainties regarding the format of the meeting persist, Pakistani sources claimed that the US and Iranian delegations met face-to-face for the first time.

Following earlier claims by Pakistan that indirect talks would be held between the parties through representatives, the White House confirmed the reports of a face-to-face meeting.

An unnamed White House official who made a statement on the matter confirmed that US Vice President James David Vance and other US officials held a face-to-face meeting with the Iranian delegation as part of their contacts in Islamabad.

It was noted that US President Donald Trump's Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff and Trump's son-in-law and former senior advisor Jared Kushner were also present at the face-to-face talks.

"Contacts will continue at the delegation level"

Local sources evaluating the progress of the meeting stated that the contacts are expected to last one day. The sources assessed that following the high-level meetings, contacts at the delegation level will continue, and in this context, the conditions put forward by the parties will be finalized.

It is known that the Iranian delegation participating in the negotiations in Islamabad includes Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, Ali Akbar Ahmadian, the representative of Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei on the Supreme National Security Council, Central Bank of Iran Governor Abdolnaser Hemmati, and several members of parliament.
