US Vice President Vance: The President will achieve a good result for us one way or another
US Vice President James David Vance, regarding the memorandum of understanding expected to be signed between the US and Iran, stated, "No funds will be released simply in exchange for signing an agreement or attending a meeting. If Iran fulfills its obligations, it is anticipated that economic benefits will reflect both on Iran and the region as a whole. The President will achieve a good result for us one way or another."
US Vice President James David Vance made a statement regarding reports in social media and international press concerning the negotiation process between the US and Iran.
In a post on his social media account, Vance criticized reports regarding the memorandum of understanding expected to be signed between the parties, saying, "I see a lot of misinformation circulating about a potential deal that would end Iran's nuclear weapons program and ensure the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz." he said.
"No funds will be released simply in exchange for signing an agreement."
Regarding claims that Iranian frozen assets would be released under any peace agreement, Vance stated, "First of all, no cash payments are being made to the Iranians. No funds will be released simply in exchange for signing an agreement or attending a meeting."
Vance stated that the potential agreement is structured to ensure that the security concerns of the US and its allies remain a priority, adding, "If the Islamic Republic of Iran fulfills its obligations, it is anticipated that economic benefits will reflect both on Iran and the region as a whole. This agreement has the potential to reshape the region and pave the way for lasting peace."
The US Vice President also noted that some "strange" situations in reports from the last few hours caught his attention, stating, "First, people who said a month ago that President Donald Trump was a historic president are now criticizing a potential deal based on unverified media reports. Second, people who argue that nothing said by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) can be trusted are now believing social media posts with obscure sources."
Vice President Vance "The President will achieve a good result for us one way or another" he said.
Details of the memorandum of understanding had been published in Iranian media
A report in Iran's semi-official Mehr news agency stated that the agreement reached with the US included commitments for Washington to withdraw its military forces from around Iran, lift the naval blockade on its ports, postpone negotiations on Iran's nuclear program to a later date, and ignore its ballistic missile program. It was noted that the US would release frozen Iranian assets, lift oil sanctions on Iran, and commit to "not interfering in Iran's internal affairs."
The report also emphasized that negotiations on nuclear and economic issues would take place at a later date, but that Iran's ballistic missile program and its support for armed groups in the region would not be on the agenda.
"The leaked terms have nothing to do with the agreed-upon terms"
Trump also reacted to reports regarding the details of the memorandum of understanding expected to be signed with Iran in a post on his social media account. The US President stated, "The terms Iran leaked to the fake news organizations have nothing to do with the terms agreed upon in writing. What they are saying has nothing to do with reality, including their weak and pathetic statements that there is a deal. There is no such thing as good faith when working with them. Unbelievable."
