Valencia fan's protest turns honeymoon into a nightmare: They cannot leave the country

The honeymoon of a Valencia fan, who drew attention with a banner he opened against Valencia's largest shareholder, Peter Lim, has turned into a nightmare in Singapore.

Valencia fan Dani Cuesta and his partner opened a banner reading "Lim Go Home" in front of a hotel owned by Lim and placed a "Lim Out" sticker on Lim's house. However, this protest led to consequences the couple did not expect.

Immediately after the protest, the couple went to the airport to fly to Bali. However, they were stopped at the security checkpoint by two men in suits and taken in for questioning.

They were subsequently detained by Singaporean police, and their passports were confiscated.

COUPLE HELD IN DETENTION

The Spanish couple has been held in Singapore since last Friday.

According to a report in Sözcü, both the couple's passports and credit cards were taken by the authorities. Following their testimony yesterday, the couple is free to move around the city, but they are still not permitted to leave Singapore. Furthermore, they are required to cover their own expenses for the duration of their stay in the country. 

Dani Cuesta provided a statement to the authorities regarding the protest and was told he would need to wait a few more days for potential penalties.

Under Singaporean law, such actions can result in fines of up to 3,000 Euros. Given the country's strict laws, this penalty is considered the most lenient outcome. If their actions had been classified as a larger demonstration, they could have faced imprisonment.

DIPLOMATIC SUPPORT INTERVENES

The Spanish consul in Singapore is standing by the couple and providing them with support in every regard.

The consulate, which is advising the couple on the process of the investigation launched following the protest against Peter Lim, is attempting to mediate to ensure the process is concluded as quickly as possible. 

In his statement, Dani Cuesta expressed regret, stating that he had only displayed a flag and placed a sticker to criticize Lim. The couple hopes that the Spanish government will intervene to resolve this issue as soon as possible.
