Value of jewelry stolen from the Louvre Museum revealed

As the investigation continues into the robbery that took place on October 19 at the famous Louvre Museum in Paris, the capital of France, Paris Prosecutor Laure Beccuau has made a statement regarding the value of the stolen jewelry.

Beccuau stated that museum officials estimate the value of the stolen jewelry to be approximately 88 million euros, but noted that the thieves would not be able to obtain this amount if they were to melt the jewelry down.

Beccuau confirmed that four individuals are linked to the robbery and stated that authorities are examining fingerprints found at the scene.

Four thieves, who arrived at the world-famous Louvre Museum—which hosts thousands of visitors daily and displays approximately 35 thousand works—on the morning of October 19, used a freight elevator from a truck outside the building and broke a window to enter the section known as the Apollo Gallery, where the Royal jewels are displayed. The thieves stole 9 pieces and dropped a crown belonging to Empress Eugenie, the wife of Napoleon III, while fleeing. The crown was found damaged outside the museum. The thieves' robbery lasted 7 minutes, and they fled the scene on motorcycles.
