Various conspiracy theories had been produced: The cause of Ebrahim Raisi's helicopter crash has been announced
The cause of the helicopter crash that resulted in the death of former Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi on May 19 has been announced. Speaking to the Fars News Agency, an individual who requested anonymity stated, "The investigation into the helicopter crash has been completed. There is absolute certainty that the incident was an accident."
Iran's semi-official news agency reported on Wednesday, citing a security source with knowledge of the final investigation results, that the helicopter crash in May that killed former Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi was caused by weather conditions and the aircraft's inability to handle the weight it was carrying.
A preliminary report prepared by the Iranian military in May had stated that no evidence of foul play or an attack was found during the investigation.
'THERE IS ABSOLUTE CERTAINTY THAT THE INCIDENT WAS AN ACCIDENT'
According to the report in MepaNews, a security source who requested anonymity told the Fars News Agency, "The investigation into Ayatollah Raisi's helicopter crash has been completed... There is absolute certainty that the incident was an accident."
The source speaking to Fars stated that there were two reasons for the crash: unfavorable weather conditions and the helicopter being overloaded, which caused it to crash into a mountain as it could not handle the weight.
The source said the investigation showed the helicopter was carrying two more people than the capacity allowed by safety protocols.
Raisi, who was once seen as a potential successor to Ali Khamenei, died in the crash in mountainous terrain near the Azerbaijani border along with Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and several others.
