Dog enters school and attacks students: 4 injured

In the village of Shiroke, located in the town of Suhareka north of the city of Prizren in Kosovo, a dog entered a primary school yesterday and attacked students. It was learned that the dog followed children who were returning from recess with food in their hands, entering the school and attacking them first in the garden and then inside the school building.

4 CHILDREN INJURED

It was stated that 4 children, who were students in the first, second, fifth, and sixth grades, were injured due to the dog's attack. The dog, which was suspected of having rabies, was neutralized after being shot by a police officer who was trying to protect himself from the attack.
Kosovo Police Prizren Region Spokesperson Vesel Gashi stated in a statement, “Police teams arrived at the scene quickly. They identified a dog that was attacking students inside the school and posing a potential threat. The dog also attacked the police officers but was quickly neutralized.”

The police announced that one of the students attacked was an 8-year-old girl, and the student, who was seriously injured in the head, was taken under treatment at the Prizren Regional Hospital. Stating that one more student was taken to the hospital, the police shared the information that the other two students survived the attack with minor injuries.

Following the attack, which occurred around 09:50 local time, the owner of the dog was taken into custody on charges of endangering public safety.
