Ekrem İmamoğlu protest in London: 'Representative' ballot box set up

The detention of CHP presidential candidate hopeful and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu was protested by Turks living in Europe. Following the protests held in Berlin on March 19, thousands of Turks gathered in London today (March 22) to hold a demonstration at Trafalgar Square in the capital of the United Kingdom.

In London, the capital of the United Kingdom, the Republican People's Party (CHP) UK Union and various non-governmental organizations organized a joint march to protest the recent operations and detentions in Turkey. During the demonstration, reactions were voiced against the detention of Ekrem İmamoğlu, as well as other politicians, journalists, and union representatives.

Approximately 5,000 people gathered at Trafalgar Square and delivered speeches criticizing the oppressive practices in Turkey. Statements made during the event emphasized that support demonstrations in the UK would continue. Additionally, a symbolic primary election ballot box was set up in the square, allowing participants to cast their votes.

The march, which began at Trafalgar Square, continued to Parliament Square. Throughout the march, the crowd chanted slogans against AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
