Narrow escape from disaster in 95-vehicle pileup in Kazakhstan!
Heavy snowfall in Kazakhstan has negatively impacted daily life. A massive pileup involving approximately 95 vehicles, caused by a snowstorm, has left 11 people injured.
A severe snowstorm that hit the north and east of Kazakhstan today has caused a disastrous accident.
In a written statement issued by the Kazakh road construction company KazAvtoJol, it was noted that traffic restrictions were imposed on a section of the Astana-Petropavlovsk highway today at around 07:20 local time due to deteriorating weather conditions.
95 VEHICLES INVOLVED IN THE ACCIDENT

The statement noted that after weather conditions improved and the roads were cleared, traffic flow was resumed in the direction of the capital, Astana, under the escort of traffic police. It was stated that at around 13:28, near the village of Janatalap, a chain-reaction accident involving approximately 95 vehicles occurred because drivers failed to adhere to speed limits and safe following distances.
11 PEOPLE INJURED
A statement from the Akmola region police department reported that 11 people were injured in the pileup.
CLEANUP OPERATIONS CONTINUE
The statement indicated that one lane had been completely cleared following the accident and that traffic flow had resumed, while cleanup operations are still ongoing.
