According to local media, opposition groups, having learned that a group supporting the Eritrean government was gathering in a hall in The Hague, attempted to enter the premises with stones and sticks.

It was reported that protesters, who broke the building's windows and set police vehicles and buses on fire, were met with tear gas, and that some police officers were injured in the ensuing incidents.

The Hague Municipality Spokesperson Robin Middel stated in a press briefing that the violence, which began between supporters of the Eritrean government gathered at the Opera conference hall and opposing groups, had spiraled out of control.

A statement from the The Hague police's X account also noted that two Eritrean groups engaged in a stone-throwing brawl on Fruitweg Street, where the Opera conference hall is located, and that police intervened to restore public order.
