Visa requirement for Turkish citizens officially enters into force
Due to rising tensions in the country, Montenegro has lifted its visa-free travel policy for Turkish citizens and implemented a visa requirement effective today.
Recent tensions in Montenegro have led to changes in entry procedures for Turkish citizens. The Turkish Embassy in Montenegro announced on the X platform that, as of October 30, Turkish citizens are required to obtain a visa to travel to Montenegro.
In its statement, the Embassy noted that, according to information received from the Montenegrin Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Turkish citizens holding ordinary passports will now be subject to a visa. It was stated that visa applications can be made at Montenegrin diplomatic missions in Ankara or Istanbul. However, it was also emphasized that Turkish citizens who hold residence permits in Australia, the USA, Canada, Ireland, the United Kingdom, and Schengen area countries will be able to travel without a visa.

Montenegrin media reported on a stabbing incident in Podgorica allegedly involving Turkish citizens.
Following this incident, Montenegrin Prime Minister Milojko Spajic announced on his X account that the visa-free travel policy for Turkish citizens had been temporarily suspended. These developments led to the implementation of the visa requirement for Turkish citizens in Montenegro.
