Warning from China to the US: 'It hasn't learned from Iraq, it is repeating the same mistakes in Iran'
While the US attack on nuclear facilities in Iran has drawn reactions from the international community, a striking analysis has come from Chinese media. CGTN wrote that Washington's military move is a direct repetition of the mistakes made during the 2003 invasion of Iraq and could drag the Middle East into an uncontrollable war.
The airstrikes carried out by the US overnight against nuclear facilities in Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan in Iran have resonated globally. Harsh reactions, particularly from China, South American countries, and some European capitals, indicated that Washington's military move has increased tensions at a global level.
As Iran's retaliations against Israel have accelerated following the attack, the China-based media outlet China Global Television Network (CGTN) issued warnings by comparing the situation to the 2003 invasion of Iraq.
"THE MISTAKE OF 2003 IS BEING REPEATED"
The analysis published on CGTN stated that the US effort to control the Israel-Iran crisis through military intervention could lead to dangerous consequences. The article made a historical comparison, stating, "In 2003, the US invaded Iraq based on false intelligence. The result was instability, sectarian wars, and destruction. Now, Iran, a much stronger and more influential country, is the target."
Chinese commentators noted that this attack could completely disrupt the fragile balances in the region and trigger a regional war.
"IRAN IS NOT ALONE – THERE IS A DANGER OF REGIONAL WAR"
CGTN emphasized that the attacks on Iran would mobilize not only that country but also actors in the region that have close relations with Iran. The article assessed, "The Middle East is a sensitive region woven with complex alliances. This attack on Tehran could draw proxy groups, allies, and even major powers into the field."
Furthermore, it was noted that Russia's position is unclear and that the steps Moscow might take could further shake the balances in the region.
"DIALOGUE IS THE ONLY WAY OUT"
At the end of the analysis, Chinese experts agreed that the current crisis cannot be solved through military methods. The call was made: "War only creates more chaos in the region. A lasting solution lies in diplomacy, mutual trust, and dialogue."
