Warning from Iran to the US: You will face extraordinary problems
Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Ashtiani stated that if the US establishes an international coalition in the Red Sea against the actions of the Houthis in Yemen, it will face "extraordinary problems."
Speaking to the Iranian Students News Agency (ISNA), Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Ashtiani made assessments regarding the US plan to establish an international coalition in the Red Sea.
Stating that the region is not in a position to tolerate further power conflicts, Ashtiani said, "They (the US) cannot attempt such a thing, and if they want to commit such an act of folly, they will face extraordinary problems."
The Iranian Minister stated, "All countries are present in this region, but this is our region. We have dominance over that region, and certainly, no one can maneuver in that region."
The US Department of Defense (Pentagon) had announced that Washington was in talks with its allies to establish a Maritime Task Force in the Red Sea.
HOUTHIS TARGET ISRAELI SHIPS IN THE RED SEA
The leader of the Houthis in Yemen, Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, had threatened in a televised speech on November 14 that they could target Israeli ships in the Red Sea.
Houthi Military Spokesperson Yahya Saree announced in a written statement on the X social media platform on November 19 that they would target all Israeli-flagged ships in response to Israel's attacks on the blockaded Gaza Strip.
Subsequently, the Houthis carried out drone and missile attacks on two Israeli ships, the "Unity Explorer" and "Number Nine," in the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
Israeli shipping company ZIM also stated in an announcement on November 29 that its ships would not use the Suez Canal in Egypt, citing the security situation in the Arabian Sea and the Red Sea.
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on the X social media platform on December 4 that 4 attacks had been carried out on 3 commercial ships in international waters in the southern Red Sea.
The statement, which reported that the US Navy destroyer "USS Carney" responded to the distress calls of the commercial ships in the southern Red Sea, stated that the destroyer shot down 3 drones heading toward it while assisting the ships.
In a statement made today, CENTCOM also announced that the Houthis had attempted to seize a Marshall Islands-flagged oil tanker named "Ardmore Encounter" in the southern Red Sea yesterday morning.
