Was there pressure on the pilot? This is how Iranian President Raisi's helicopter crashed!

Hürriyet aviation columnist Uğur Cebeci has explained the details of the helicopter crash that shocked the world and claimed the life of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi.

"IT IS NOT AS COMPLICATED AS THOUGHT"

Cebeci made the following assessments regarding the helicopter in question:

“The BELL 212 model helicopter, which was carrying Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and the top names of the country's foreign policy, has been in use for many years. The age of the helicopter is not important. However, they are stating that it is a helicopter that has had counterfeit parts used in it due to the embargoes. Even if that is the case, it is a machine that has been working and active for many years. In other words, it is not a vehicle that has been sitting idle. Today, even B-52 bombers manufactured many years ago are still in use. So, age is not a factor.

The accident does not actually look as complicated as it is thought to be. The fact that the weather was good upon takeoff from Azerbaijan, a misconception that many helicopter pilots fall into, could very likely be one of the main reasons for the accident. Because these days and the next 15-20 days are already known as times when dense fog descends.

"IT MAY HAVE CREATED PRESSURE"

Also, it is highly probable that President Raisi's desire not to spend the night in Azerbaijan may have created pressure on the helicopter pilot to fly. When the pilot, who was flying under visual flight rules, encountered a wall of fog upon reaching the mountainous and forested area, visibility most likely dropped to just a few meters. And in such a situation, hitting a mountain is a very common occurrence in helicopter accidents.

"HE HIT THE MOUNTAIN UPON SEEING THE WALL OF FOG"

The pilot flying the helicopter carrying the Iranian President most likely hit the mountain because he could not see when the wall of fog appeared in front of him. This theory is currently the most prominent one regarding the accident.

The delay in locating the helicopter, that is, the crash site, was also most likely caused by the fact that the 'transponder' used by the helicopter for communication was turned off so that the President's flight would not be tracked.”
