West Nile Virus alarm in neighboring country: 6 people have lost their lives
In Greece, 5 people have lost their lives due to the West Nile Virus in the last week. The virus, which is transmitted by mosquitoes, continues to show its effects in different regions of Greece.
In a statement made by the National Public Health Organization of Greece (EODY), it was stated that as of 2024, the West Nile Virus has caused a total of 6 deaths across the country. It was noted that 5 of these deaths were recorded within the last week.

Experts stated that the virus has been detected particularly in the Karditsa, Larissa, Trikala, Imathia, Thessaloniki, and Pella regions, and drew attention to the importance of personal protection against mosquitoes.
Health authorities warned citizens to reduce contact with mosquitoes and to take protective measures.
