White House: Trump is closely monitoring developments regarding Iran

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt announced that U.S. President Donald Trump is monitoring developments regarding the attacks on Iran from his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida.

In a post on social media, Leavitt reported that not only Trump but also members of his national security team are closely examining the developments.

Leavitt further stated that U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio had called members of the "Gang of Eight," a group consisting of leading members of the Senate and the House of Representatives, to brief them ahead of the attacks, adding, "Rubio called all members of the Gang of Eight, reaching 7 out of the 8 members to provide information. The President and his national security team will continue to monitor the situation closely throughout the day."

The spokesperson also conveyed that Trump held a phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Despite warnings from regional countries and Europe, the U.S. and Israel launched a coordinated military attack against Iran earlier today. Iran stated that it would retaliate, announcing that U.S. bases in neighboring countries would be targeted with unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and various missiles, and it targeted U.S. military presence in Gulf countries such as the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Bahrain.

These attacks came two days after the latest round of negotiations in Geneva, Switzerland, where U.S. and Iranian delegations met regarding Iran's nuclear program.
