WHO contacts 12 countries including Turkey over hantavirus: Monitoring has begun
The World Health Organization (WHO) has contacted 12 countries, including Turkey, as part of investigations into potential hantavirus exposure. Following the development, health authorities have begun to monitor the situation closely.
It was reported that the countries contacted by the WHO include Germany, Denmark, Canada, Turkey, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, the USA, Singapore, and Saint Kitts and Nevis.
Experts state that hantavirus is primarily transmitted through rodents and that some strains can cause serious respiratory illnesses.
It is emphasized that attention should be paid to hygiene rules, especially in enclosed spaces, warehouses, and areas where there is contact with rodents.
While no global pandemic has been declared so far, it has been learned that potential cases of contact and exposure are being evaluated in these countries. It was stated that health units in Turkey are also following the developments.
