Who is leading in the latest US election polls? Harris or Trump?
The balance in the US Presidential election to be held on November 5, 2024, is shifting every day. The latest status of the election and details...
The 2024 US presidential election is witnessing an unprecedented contest between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump.
With 4 days left until the polls close, both candidates have intensified their 'get out the vote' calls to voters who have not yet cast their ballots.
While Kamala Harris is slightly ahead in the polls, US presidential elections are not decided by the popular vote, but by the Electoral College system, where votes are tallied by state. Therefore, while national polling averages provide a general idea, the distribution of votes on a state-by-state basis is the true deciding factor.
In swing and critical states such as Georgia, Arizona, and Pennsylvania, the race between the two candidates is generally separated by only a few percentage points. It is predicted that small shifts in votes or changes in voter turnout in these states could be influential enough to determine the election outcome.
In the latest poll conducted on October 31 by 270toWin, one of the leading US polling firms, Harris leads with 48.4%, while Trump follows closely behind with 47.2%. Other independent candidates account for 4.4%. With the balance shifting day by day, undecided voters who have not yet cast their ballots remain critically important.
Number of early voters exceeds 65 million
According to the latest figures, the number of early voters is over 65 million.
In Georgia, one of the key states, 3.4 million voters have cast their early ballots. Another key state, North Carolina, set a new record for first-day voting with over 350,000 votes cast, while more than 125,000 votes were cast in South Carolina.
So far, we can see that the age group with the highest number of early voters is those over 65. Data compiled by the University of Florida Election Lab shows that more than 29 million early votes were cast in person at polling stations, and 25.9 million mail-in ballots have been returned.
While experts following the election analyze voter profiles and suggest that Kamala Harris is leading the race by a narrow margin, the final results are expected on November 5.
