Will Turkmens in Syria support Al-Shara? They held a consultation meeting

Turkmens in northern Syria have gathered to discuss the political situation in the country. The consultation meeting addressed the political situation in Syria and relations with the Transitional Government established in Damascus.

The meeting, held in the town of Al-Rai on the Turkish border, was attended by representatives of Turkmen groups from the Aleppo, Latakia, Damascus, Homs, Hama, Quneitra, and Raqqa regions.

Turkmen Assembly President Faysal Cuma congratulated the new government and Ahmet el-Shara, who was declared President by the newly formed administration in Damascus, stating that they met today to ensure the future of the Turkmens and to produce solutions to the people's problems.

Emphasizing that they have never abandoned their identity, their cause, or their values in these lands where they have lived for a thousand years, Cuma stated the following:

'We continue our efforts with the same spirit and faith to preserve our presence in Syria, defend our people, and secure our future.'

Cuma congratulated all Syrians on the occasion of the Syrian people being liberated from the regime and rising again.

THEY WILL WORK FOR THE RECONSTRUCTION OF SYRIA

Turkmen Assembly Advisory Board President Abdurrahman Mustafa stated that Syrian Turkmens defend the integrity of the country and have paid a heavy price for this cause. Mustafa argued that Turkmens should be in the place they deserve during Syria's reconstruction process.

Reminding that 'territorial integrity has not yet been achieved' in Syria, Mustafa stated the following:

'We, as Turkmens, defend the territorial integrity of Syria. We do not have a goal of forming an opposition structure as Turkmens. We support the Damascus administration and will always stand by them. Syrian Turkmens should not be ignored. Turkmens are one, and from now on, we will further consolidate our unity and fight for the reconstruction of Syria.'

THANKS FOR TURKEY'S SUPPORT

Turkmen commander Fehim İsa also noted that important developments have taken place in Damascus after years of hardship in Syria. Thanking the Republic of Turkey and the Turkish people, İsa emphasized that 'the support Turkey has given to the Syrian people is very valuable.'

İsa said the following:

'We have met with our President Ahmet Shara and other officials. We expressed that we stand by our state and are determined to build the future of Syria. We will play an important role in shaping the new Syria and will contribute to this process. There are still major security problems and threats from terrorist organizations in Damascus and other regions. Therefore, we will continue to follow the process closely. Especially the regions located east of the Euphrates are of strategic importance to us. Our struggle continues and will continue due to the regions held by terrorist elements.'
