YDP decides to withdraw from the government in the TRNC
As the repercussions of the ship accident in the TRNC continue, the YDP has decided to withdraw from the government.
Rebirth Party (YDP) Chairman Erhan Arıklı announced that the Party Assembly has decided to withdraw from the government. Arıklı stated that the decision will be formally communicated in writing to Prime Minister Ünal Üstel tomorrow.
Following his removal from the post of Minister of Public Works and Transportation, Arıklı recalled that he had previously announced he would submit a petition to the Speaker of the Assembly to have his parliamentary immunity lifted.
Stating that Prime Minister Ünal Üstel called him approximately one to one and a half hours after this announcement, Arıklı conveyed that Üstel told him, "I have to remove you from office for the sake of the investigation."
Regarding his removal, Arıklı used the following expressions: "I thanked him. This was actually an opportunity I had been waiting for for two years. I thank the Prime Minister for giving me this opportunity."
