Yellow weather warning issued in the UK
A large part of the country was covered in snow and ice on Sunday. UK authorities have continued their preparations against cold weather conditions. The latest warnings specifically include Northern England and Scotland.
New warnings have been issued covering a large part of the country, primarily Northern England and Scotland. These updates for Monday indicate that freezing conditions will continue.
However, the south of England is also facing a rainfall warning.
Met Office Chief Meteorologist Jason Kelly said, "For the first time in a while, an Atlantic air mass is bringing less cold conditions to the south and central regions, while a cold air mass persists in the north. The risk of ice remains where these two air masses meet."
"YELLOW WARNING ISSUED"
Kelly stated, "Rainfall will increase in the south, and a yellow warning for rain has been issued for the South West on Monday."
Dangerous road conditions have led police to advise travel only if necessary.
An ice warning has been issued for regions stretching from the East Midlands to Newcastle.
The Met Office is currently highlighting the possibility of up to 60 mm of rainfall in Wales and Southern England, particularly in coastal areas near Brighton and Portsmouth, from midnight until 18:00 on Monday.
