Zelenskyy: A Russian drone entered Romanian airspace
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that a Russian drone entered Romanian airspace and remained in NATO airspace for 50 minutes.
Zelenskyy announced that Romanian Air Force aircraft were scrambled due to the drone entering Romanian airspace.
Stating that according to current data, the drone penetrated up to 10 kilometers into Romanian airspace, Zelenskyy expressed that the situation could not be a coincidence or a mistake.
The Ukrainian President said, "The Russian army knows where its drones are heading and how long they can operate in the air. (The drones') routes are always calculated."
Zelenskyy stated that preventive measures must be taken to prevent violations, while pointing to the necessity of sanctions.
WHAT HAPPENED?
It had been reported that Russian drones had violated Polish airspace in recent days.
US President Donald Trump, in his statement regarding the incident, had said, "What does it mean for Russia to violate Polish airspace with drones? Here we go."
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, in his statement yesterday, had announced a new mission called "Eastern Watch" to strengthen NATO's eastern flank.
Reactions to the violation in question had also come from Europe. German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius stated that the situation occurred intentionally and said, "These unmanned aerial vehicles were clearly directed onto this route."
The French Ministry of Foreign Affairs also reacted to the incident, summoning the Russian Ambassador to the ministry and stating that the violation was unacceptable.
