BBC: Hamas offers to release some hostages in exchange for a ceasefire
As negotiations continue for the release of most of the estimated 203 hostages held in Gaza, it has been reported that Hamas has offered to release some hostages in exchange for a ceasefire.
According to a report by BBC News Security Correspondent Frank Gardner, the BBC has confirmed Hamas's ceasefire proposal. However, Israel has not accepted this offer so far.
Furthermore, Hamas Political Bureau Chief Ismail Haniyeh stated that Israel's ongoing attacks on Gaza could turn into a regional war.
Reminding that the US and some European countries have visited Israel to provide moral support, Haniyeh stated that despite all these efforts by the Washington administration, they have not been successful in "providing regional and international support to Israel regarding the attacks on Gaza and forcing Arabs to accept displacement."
WARNING THAT THE WAR COULD ESCAPE
The Hamas leader noted that they "have warned that if these brutal attacks, destruction, and bloodshed against Gaza continue, it could turn into a regional war."
Stating that they have met with many officials from the Arab and Islamic world in recent days, Haniyeh expressed that in these meetings, "they stated that a solution is only possible with the end of the occupation and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital, and that they demanded that the occupying commanders be tried for the crimes they committed and that aid be delivered to Gaza as soon as possible."
Finally, Haniyeh called on the public to take to the streets on Friday with the slogan "Stop the attacks on Gaza, no to displacement and an alternative homeland."
