New selection from Pera Film: 'Infinite Streets' from Istanbul to Tokyo
In its 'Infinite Streets' program, organized in parallel with the exhibition 'From the Source: A History of Panoramic Views of Istanbul,' Pera Film brings together five films from the 2000s that question the permanent and inevitable role of cities in our lives.

The Suna and İnan Kıraç Foundation Pera Museum Film and Video Programs (Pera Film) interprets the exhibition's rich narrative about the city from a universal perspective through films that depict cities as living, breathing spaces in its 'Infinite Streets' selection, prepared specifically for the exhibition 'From the Source: A History of Panoramic Views of Istanbul.'
Taking its name from Federico Fellini’s 1954 film, the program brings together five films that question the permanent and inevitable role of cities in our lives, on a route extending from Istanbul to Tokyo, Taipei, Marseille, and Oslo.
THE INTERSECTING STORY OF TWO STRANGERS
The selection includes Hasret, which traces the feeling of 'longing' in the melancholic streets of Istanbul; Stray Dogs, where we experience rainy Taipei landscapes through the eyes of a homeless and vulnerable family; Transit, which wanders through the vague spaces of Marseille trapped between the past and the future; Oslo, August 31st, which depicts the city's streets as silent witnesses to a young man's poignant journey; and 'Lost in Translation,' which deals with the story of two strangers whose paths cross under the neon lights of Tokyo.
Adapted from Anna Seghers’ 1942 novel of the same name, Transit bears the signature of renowned director Christian Petzold. In the story, which follows a group of refugees trying to escape from Nazi-occupied France, the city appears to the audience as a symbol of both escape and the hope for a new life, as well as a labyrinthine trap filled with the constant threat of being caught.
Marseille, where the story takes place, plays an important role in the film's visual language as a purgatory where refugees and displaced people struggle with uncertainties.
