The impact of digital culture is being explored: 'Timeless Curiosities' exhibition at Istanbul Modern

Focusing on digital culture, the "Timeless Curiosities" exhibition brings together artists who incorporate unique elements into their work and demonstrate innovation in their production while maintaining experimental perspectives.

Reflecting the digital transformation that affects our lives through the perspectives of artists who witness this process, the exhibition features works by 16 artists, artist duos, and artist collectives who adopt digital culture as a standard element in their research processes and prioritize experimenting with new technologies.

WORKS THAT WILL CARRY ART HISTORY INTO THE FUTURE

Works that address the subjects art has focused on since cave paintings under the influence of digitalization are examined as productions that will carry art history from today into the future.

"Timeless Curiosities" presents various images and expressions, along with production forms we are accustomed to seeing mostly on online channels and digital applications, physically within the museum through the works of artists who approach them using different methods.

Curated by Ümit Mesci and Nilay Dursun, the exhibition features works by Cem A., Atıf Akın, Ozan Atalan, Kerem Ozan Bayraktar, Mehmet Berk Bostancı, Cihad Caner, Yasin Arıbuğa-Toprak Fırat, Beste İleri, Alican İnal, Yelta Köm, Ebru Kurbak, Oddviz, Özcan Saraç, Ahmet Rüstem Ekici-Hakan Sorar, Meltem Şahin, and Berkay Tuncay, who use both physical and digital narrative tools.

'IT FOCUSES ON SUBJECTS SUCH AS NATURE AND ARCHITECTURE'

Providing information about the exhibition, curator Ümit Mesci said, "The works in 'Timeless Curiosities,' which contribute to the production of young artists in particular, focus on subjects that have stood out in art production throughout history, such as nature, history, architecture, the city, identity, and society. The works, which reflect the effects of digital culture, are examined as the current link in a narrative chain that can be followed as a whole from the early periods of art history to the present day."

Stating that the "Young Productions in the Field of Digital Art" program, which Istanbul Modern carried out with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, was effective in the research and development process of the exhibition, curator Nilay Dursun pointed out that with this project, the museum brings together young artists who continue their production in different disciplines with a focus on digital production.
