DEM Party takes action against appointed trustees

The DEM Party has filed a lawsuit against the Ministry of Interior citing the recent appointment of trustees. The Law and Human Rights Commission of the Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) and party lawyers have submitted an application requesting a stay of execution for the appointment of trustees to the Mardin Metropolitan Municipality, Batman Municipality, and Şanlıurfa Halfeti Municipality. 

In the applications made to the administrative courts of the three provinces, responses were provided to the justifications put forward by the Ministry of Interior for the removal of the mayors, such as "they had files, they had been convicted," and it was stated that these allegations do not reflect the truth.

'THE PUBLIC HAS BECOME UNABLE TO RECEIVE SERVICES'

It was emphasized that the justifications put forward regarding Ahmet Türk were also used as grounds for appointing trustees to Mardin in 2016 and 2019, but that there is no final judicial decision regarding these accusations. Detailed information was provided regarding the legal status of the Co-Mayors, and national and international judicial decisions and legal norms were pointed out regarding why trustees cannot be appointed.

Furthermore, it was stated that every appointment of a trustee turns municipalities into police stations and that the public has become unable to receive services, and it was demanded that this situation be brought to an end.
