Metro breaks down in Istanbul, citizens left stranded

A malfunction on the Yenikapı-Atatürk Airport metro line during the morning hours caused congestion. Passengers attempting to exit from the Davutpaşa station were caught off guard when the escalator suddenly began moving in the opposite direction.

In Istanbul, citizens who left their homes in the morning to go to work were met with a metro surprise.

Due to a broken-down metro on the Yenikapı-Atatürk Airport line, people were left stranded. When the escalator that citizens were using to exit the Davutpaşa Metro Station suddenly started moving in reverse, interesting scenes emerged. Those moments were captured on camera.

STATEMENT RELEASED

In a statement made by Metro Istanbul, it was stated: "Due to a technical malfunction on our M1A Yenikapı-Atatürk Airport Metro Line, our services are being operated between the Yenikapı-Davutpaşa and Bakırköy-Atatürk Airport stations."

Services returned to normal after approximately 2 hours of work.
