'Narkoçelik-42' operation in 19 provinces: 49 drug dealers arrested

Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya announced that 1.9 tons of narcotics and millions of cannabis plants were seized in operations conducted in 19 provinces under the coordination of the Gendarmerie General Command.

Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya stated in a post on his social media account that "Narkoçelik-42" operations were carried out by provincial gendarmerie commands in Diyarbakır, Istanbul, Ankara, Van, Samsun, Erzurum, Manisa, Artvin, Ardahan, Antalya, Balıkesir, Siirt, Tekirdağ, Karaman, Gaziantep, Edirne, Aksaray, Kahramanmaraş, and Hakkari, under the coordination of the Gendarmerie General Command's Department of Anti-Narcotic Crimes.

Providing information that 1 ton 971 kilograms of narcotics, 4 million 389 thousand cannabis and skunk plants, and 267 thousand 593 narcotic pills were seized in the operations carried out by the gendarmerie in 19 provinces, Yerlikaya announced that 49 drug dealers were captured, 22 of whom were arrested, 3 were placed under judicial control, and proceedings are ongoing for 24 others.

OPERATION AGAINST DRUG DEALERS

Minister of Interior Yerlikaya noted that as a result of 62 thousand 132 operations conducted nationwide against drug dealers between June 4, 2023, and September 30, 2024, 42 thousand 908 suspects were arrested and judicial control decisions were issued for 18 thousand 718 suspects.

Stating that 163.7 tons of narcotics, 79.5 million narcotic pills, and 261.4 million cannabis plants were also seized in these operations, Yerlikaya said, "I want our dear nation to know that we are determined to cleanse our country of drug dealers and street-level sellers. We will not give them any breathing room. I congratulate our heroic gendarmerie who carried out the operations. May God protect you. Our nation's prayers are with you."
