The application filed by the CHP for the annulment of the article known in the public eye as the 'Censorship Law' will be deliberated by the Constitutional Court (AYM) today.
Journalist Tolga Şardan, who was released after being arrested in recent days, evaluated the hearing.
"Journalist Tolga Şardan was detained in recent days, brought from Ankara to Istanbul in the middle of the night, and arrested. Şardan was subsequently released on the condition of a travel ban."
Şardan stated the following:
"The decision the Constitutional Court will make is important not only from the perspective of my profession but also in terms of society's expectations. There is a need for society to be more at ease and to have access to accurate news and information. Instead of blocking journalists, the path should be cleared for those who practice journalism. When it was passing through Parliament, it was said to be for fake and bot accounts on social media. But we see that it covers me and other journalists. After I was arrested, I saw that my colleagues were behind me. I was very happy about this. According to the first information I received, the rapporteur is optimistic. But I don't know what will happen inside."
