'Fund' pressure on second-hand cars

The reflection of the liquidity crunch in fund markets on the automotive sector is being discussed. According to assessments by automotive journalist Emre Özpeynirci, the fact that some individuals struggling to access cash from their fund investments are putting their vehicles up for sale could increase supply, particularly in the second-hand car market.

It is noted that the increase in the number of vehicles entering the market due to the prominence of cash needs could create downward pressure on second-hand prices. This situation is expected to not only be limited to the second-hand market but also affect demand for new cars.

One of the critical issues for the sector is consumers who keep their savings in funds to buy new vehicles. The fact that a portion of this group, who plan to convert to cash at the purchasing stage, is struggling to access money under current conditions could lead to the postponement or cancellation of new vehicle purchases.

The final quarter of the year usually stands out as a period when sales accelerate in the automotive sector. However, it is stated that if the tightness in the fund market continues, sales expectations for the end of the year could weaken.

According to Özpeynirci's analysis, the increase in forced sales in the second-hand market and the consumer's difficulty in accessing cash stand out as the two main factors increasing the risk of stagnation in the automotive market.
