Atatürk’s Prediction Regarding Israel

He was a brigadier general,

He was on the General Staff’s list of “those to become major generals.”

However, he did not care.

In Aleppo,

While serving as the Commander of the 7th Army, he sent a report to the higher authorities of the collapsing Ottoman Empire.

With this report, he had issued a final warning to the upper echelons;

He believed that we would lose the First World War because of the Germans, and he foresaw that the Ottoman State would collapse due to the war being prolonged, again because of the Germans.

The country was in ruins.

There was a lack of trust in the state and justice. Hunger was at its peak. The number of soldiers and officers in the army to defend the homeland had decreased. Those who remained were practically under the command of the Germans. German General Falkenhayn had been appointed to the Lightning Army Group Command, which was attached to the Ottoman General Staff, and he had filled the headquarters with Germans. Every procedure carried out at the Ottoman Headquarters was in German.

Mustafa Kemal Pasha knew that the Germans were not in the region to fight against the British alongside the Ottoman Army, but rather were in an effort to turn Ottoman lands into a colony and that they had formed an alliance with us for this purpose.

While he was the 7th Army Commander, he reported these concerns one by one to the higher authorities.

“Trust between the people and the government has been shaken. The state and the army are persistently and stubbornly demanding the people’s property and assets for next to nothing.

The governorships and district governorships are in a state of great helplessness. Bribery and profiteering have increased among civil servants. The judiciary is not functioning. Trade and the economy have begun to collapse. There is a crisis in the country. This situation has forced even honest people to become corrupt.

If persistence in the World War continues under these conditions, the state may collapse suddenly,” he said.

These were very harsh words.

With this report, Mustafa Kemal Pasha was talking about the danger of the state’s collapse and was openly criticizing those who governed the state. The people he criticized were Prime Minister Talat Pasha, Acting Commander-in-Chief Enver Pasha, and Minister of the Navy Cemal Pasha.

With this report, Mustafa Kemal Pasha was making another definitive prediction. That was that the capital, Istanbul, would be occupied.

“Since our capital has sea connections to the world, there is a possibility that it will be occupied by the enemy in a deadly manner,” he said.

No one even wanted to think about such a disaster. But a year later, that too unfortunately came to pass.

Mustafa Kemal Pasha also touched upon an interesting point in this report. He said that a foreign state would be established on Palestinian lands. But it was impossible to understand this at that time. Besides, he could not get anyone to listen to him anyway.

The date was September 20, 1917. The point he touched upon was as follows;

“The British have reached their goals in Iraq. We may also lose Mosul. The British have not yet reached their goals on the Sinai and Hejaz fronts. However, they are preparing for this. Creating an Islamic community that serves England and establishing a Palestinian-Foreign government under the influence of England, and thereby seizing Egypt, Suez, and the Red Sea forever, are among England’s World War goals,” he said.

This is what Mustafa Kemal Pasha meant;

He was saying and warning that the British wanted to rule the Arabian Peninsula by creating an Islamic community that served them in the Sinai and Hejaz region, and to keep the Suez and the Red Sea in their hands forever by establishing a foreign state under their own control on Palestinian lands.

By “foreign state,” Mustafa Kemal Pasha of course meant a Jewish state.

Furthermore, Mustafa Kemal Pasha stated that the British were constantly making shipments to the Sinai front,

that they would be in a very superior position against us after the shipments were finished, and that the 7th Army should be urgently sent to the region to fortify the Sinai front against this.

These had to be done immediately.

According to Mustafa Kemal Pasha, this was not enough either. Jerusalem had not yet fallen. He also requested from the Ottoman General Staff, that is, from Enver Pasha, that a Muslim and a Turkish commander be appointed to lead the military force defending Jerusalem. He absolutely did not trust the German generals defending Jerusalem, Von Kressenstein and Falkenhayn.

Let me say even more;

He wanted the defense of the city against the British/Arab military units that had reached the gates of Jerusalem from Gaza to be taken away from the Germans and given to him, and if this was not accepted, he wanted it to be given to Cemal Pasha. Because he knew that since the Crusades, the common ambition of the Christian community had been Jerusalem, and the German generals who had been given the task of defending Ottoman lands would not defend this city.

If you ask what the result was, let me tell you immediately.

Mustafa Kemal’s report and warnings were not taken into account at the state level. The defense of Jerusalem remained with the German commanders. It was not given to a Muslim and a Turkish commander. Approximately one month after this report, on November 9, 1917, the imperialists decided to establish a Jewish state on Palestinian lands and announced this to the press with a declaration.

They called it the Balfour Declaration. That declaration was the seed of Israel.

Let’s come to Jerusalem. Since Atatürk knew that the Germans would not defend Jerusalem, he insistently requested that the defense of Jerusalem be given to a Muslim and a Turkish commander, even that it be given to himself, and if this was not accepted, that it be given to Cemal Pasha.

But they did not give it.

British Commander Allenby, who had reached the gates of Jerusalem, threatened to bomb the city. The Germans surrendered the city to the British without firing a single shot, saying, “Heaven forbid that the shrines, mosques, and churches be damaged.” British General Allenby walked into Jerusalem with his hands swinging.

And when Jerusalem fell, victory bells were ringing in all the churches of Europe.

Unfortunately, Germany was included in this as well.

Isn’t it a very painful history?

But let me tell you something even more painful: the Ottoman mentality that surrendered Jerusalem to German commanders at that time still lives on today. And this mentality is spreading dirty propaganda today by saying, “Jerusalem fell because of Atatürk.”

What is even more painful is that many people in our country unfortunately believe this.
