Three major revolutions took place in the 20th century;
The first was in China, with the collapse of the Qing Dynasty, the last imperial dynasty, on February 12, 1912, followed by the establishment of the Republic of China, and subsequently the 1949 Chinese Communist Revolution.
Both were destroyed.
Nothing remains of them.
The second was the Russian Revolution.
In 1917, the Romanov Tsarist regime was overthrown, and the Soviet Union was established under the leadership of Vladimir Lenin.
It collapsed along with the Berlin Wall in 1989.
The Soviets were fragmented. Nothing remains of the 'Lenin Revolution'.
The third is the Turkish Revolution.
The surrender of the Ottoman dynasty on October 30, 1918, and the subsequent liberation of the country from the enemy by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.
The Turkish People's Revolution.
It is still alive.
It stands tall.
The Turkish Revolution carried out by Atatürk is still ongoing.
The victory of August 30 was crowned with the Treaty of Lausanne, and the Treaty of Lausanne is the only international treaty that has remained in effect to this day since that time.
It ensures the security of the Middle East and Asia. It is the insurance of the region.
Let us immediately state what the victory of August 30 contributed to World Peace;
1- The victory of August 30 ended more than 300 years of British colonialism.
2- It enabled the awakening of Gandhi, who said, "Until Mustafa Kemal won, we thought the British were gods," and of oppressed peoples.
3- By supporting the Soviet Union's struggle against imperialism that day, it ensured the formation of a bipolar balance in the world. It did not surrender to the brutal rule of capitalism.
4- It ensured world peace with Lausanne.
5- After the war, Ankara became the capital and became a stable power that ensures regional peace between the East-West/North-South poles.
Today, everyone looks to Ankara regarding the wars taking place in the region.
Whether the government is pursuing the right policy today is debatable. But Turkey's strategic position is very important for the Middle East.
But if August 30 had not happened and Lausanne had not been signed, Anatolia would be a boiling cauldron today.
The Greeks have ambitions.
The British have ambitions; Italy had entered as far as Konya, they have ambitions. The French had come as far as Çukurova, Maraş, Antep, and Urfa; they have ambitions.
The Armenians have ambitions.
The Russians had entered as far as Erzincan in the east; they have ambitions.
Is it possible for so many occupiers, who have fallen into a state of partition, to reach an agreement among themselves?
Of course not.
In this sense, August 30 ensured peace not only in Anatolia but also in world politics, covering the region and Asia. In this respect, August 30 is important not only for us,
But also for world peace.
If that victory had not occurred, Anatolia, the Middle East, and Western Asia would be a boiling cauldron.
Therefore, the mission of August 30 in world history is very important not only for that day but also for today.
