After the Second World War, a belief in science and progress prevailed across all political poles (the Western Bloc, the USSR, and the Non-Aligned Movement). Science was the guiding light. Science was instrumentalized to maximize profits, carry out public spending, and transform society.
As a result of the instrumentalization of science, science entered the realm of ideological hegemony. The masters of the blocs created discourse for their own interests in the name of science, scientificity, or modernity. It is natural to feel distrust toward political discourse. This distrust also infected science.
The reaction against political discourse also turned toward science, modernity, and progress. Ultimately, the hatred felt toward the masters of the system, their tools, and their assumptions was directed by those very masters. The reaction against old grand narratives (socialism, social democracy, fascism, etc.) somehow concentrated on socialism. Fascism, socialism, and non-mainstream politics were equated through the lens of "authoritarianism."
Scientificity, progressivism, leftism, and egalitarianism were first softened. Then, a liberalism labeled as "left" was marketed as the mainstream. The hatred felt toward this mainstream was extended to the entire left.
Now, especially among the younger generations, scientificity, the left, egalitarianism, progressivism, and the Enlightenment have been turned into a "lie" that disappoints people and causes them pain. In the centers of the US and Europe, the orthodox left was disciplined and neutralized through anti-Sovietism; the radical left through accusations of terrorism; and social democracy through accusations of profiting from exploitation. What remained in the name of the "left" was "WOKE." This liberal movement, deeply tied to cultural identities and opposition to the Enlightenment and modernity, and influenced by postmodern philosophy, was invaluable for the anger of the masses. After all, Woke was an ideal enemy for the broad, mostly right-wing, chauvinistic, and conservative segments of society, as it prioritized LGBT rights, women's rights, animal rights, and environmental rights more than the power of the working classes, and because of its cultural stance. Woke, which also took its share of the radical left's hatred for liberalism, was a brilliant invention that united its opponents in a feeling of disgust.
All movements that feel a reaction against mainstream politicians under the influence of Woke, liberalism, and the "institutionality" of the West have agreed to the darkest alliances against them. This is precisely where the paradigm collapses. A brand new discursive opportunity has emerged for those who want to manage the crowds that feel a reaction against the Brussels-London discourse and US campus leftism that deceived them in the past.
A libertarian stance against political correctness and chauvinism were able to unite in a single emotion: a disgust toward Woke and liberal political discourse. Beneath this disgust, there is also hatred for the oppressed classes and admiration for the oppressors. As the number of people who read books like "Rich Dad Poor Dad" and think they can throw themselves into the camp of those who oppress them increases, hatred for the oppressed and admiration for the oppressor grow.
