Return from Holiday-2

With the permission of you, esteemed readers, after being away from your presence for nearly a month and taking a customary short holiday, thank goodness, we are reunited once again. I do not quite like the phrase 'return from holiday' that I used in the title. The reason is that I attended boarding school for high school. Because the weekend would fly by like a bird, and when Sunday evening came, a gloom would descend upon me, as it was time to return to the dormitory for a whole week.

During the holiday, of course, many events took place, but the proudest was the August 30 Victory Day, and the most painful was the ship disaster near Cyprus. The fact that the political cadre appearing before Atatürk during the August 30 celebrations was represented with one person missing brings some thoughts to our minds regarding the "opening" (açılım) process. I wish God's mercy upon those who died in the ship disaster, my condolences to their families, and a speedy recovery to the injured citizens. I hope that such accidents that darken our souls will be far from us and all of humanity from now on! I wonder how it is that such accidents based on extraordinary negligence and obvious fault (which, in fact, do not even fit the definition of an accident!) happen in countries like ours rather than in advanced countries; we should think about this issue!

Upon returning from the holiday, I do not want to enter the fields of politics and economics before warming up sufficiently. However, perhaps it is an occupational hazard; in my opinion, since the foundation of everything is the economy, I inevitably find myself entering the field of economics. Of course, when talking about the economy, the New Party (Yeni Parti) inevitably comes to the agenda immediately. When the New Party comes to the agenda, the CHP inevitably comes to the agenda as well. Then it becomes necessary to step out of economics and enter politics. 

I want to start with an issue that has always troubled my mind. I know US culture to some extent. But the overly intimate, arm-in-arm attitudes at the last NATO meeting disturbed me immensely. Just as Western culture is very different from Eastern culture, scientific rules are also very popular in adjusting the behaviors of Western people and leaders. For example, the meetings held in the Oval Office are definitely recorded and analyzed later. The issue of who can be invited to the Oval Office is a matter that requires great attention! In advanced countries, such political contacts are planned quite within the framework of psychology and political science, and necessary behavioral instructions are given to presidents or politicians almost as if giving instructions to a football team taking the field. I suppose Western politicians can take extreme advantage of the sincere or somewhat reckless actions of Eastern politicians, using irregular behaviors as a wonderful channel to pour out their imperialist goals. For example, the pose of the late Ecevit standing while the US President was sitting during an Oval Office meeting was widely debated here. However, that pose was not something to be debated that much at all. But Trump's phone call with a baseball bat or the expressions in that famous and ominous letter were not dwelled upon as much. Yet, those were the poses that truly wounded one's inner self. I hope that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is taken out of the "mon cher" mindset, and a bit more personality and maturity are brought to our foreign policy with its behavioral function before all international meetings and its interpretive function afterward. 

The "opening" (açılım) issue, which is the main topic related to foreign policy, is being carried out in a limping manner by being treated as if it were merely a domestic issue. Moreover, the issue must not have been associated much with domestic politics either, as the public was not asked, no survey was conducted, nor was the public reached through other channels to engage in an exchange of views. It is unknown what is hoped to be achieved from such closed politics! Perhaps those who started and are running this business by "remote control" from far away know much more than we do and are whispering into ears.

How can this situation not be considered; the politicians making the agreement will perhaps withdraw from politics, or maybe even from this mortal world in some way, before the ink of the agreement even dries, leaving the people alone with each other.  The "opening" issue, which I believe is being pursued without taking these three issues into consideration, is in essence far, very far from being purely a domestic issue. Because, when the issue starts to be conducted over ethnic origins, it will inevitably bring to the agenda not only our citizens in Turkey (which is not a problem here!), but also, very importantly, the Kurds in Iran and the Kurdish people with a quite large population in Syria and the region. How this mobilization will affect Iran and the Kurdish people in the region, and how it will change the dynamics, I do not know if it has been thought about, I wonder! 

The second issue is the adjective "Greater" in that ominous "Greater Middle East Project". I wonder what this ominous adjective implies, or how what will be established? What is meant by Greater, which country is meant, or is a new large state intended to be established in the Middle East! Undoubtedly, or let us believe that, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs employees are rightfully well-versed in this issue and have taken all precautions to protect the place and pride of our homeland in the coming periods, or at least let us convey our wishes in this direction. Because, in today's conditions, imperialism can have effects that spread far beyond the spread of financialized monopolistic capitalism to the periphery put forward by Lenin, even spreading to consequences that will penetrate three or five steps ahead, reminiscent of a chess game.

The third issue related to this topic is that the "opening" issue is unfortunately being used as a tool to make a new constitution for the survival of a political party or politician, by exploiting our Kurdish citizens as well. As in every issue, the smell of insincerity surrounds this issue too. Political chess can be meaningful if played cleverly, but this game is not played for the sake of the survival of a party, a group, or a politician, especially if the playing field is the surface of a homeland with Turkish, Kurdish, and other components! 

In the newly established New Party formation, just as in today's image of the CHP, the waters are so complex and muddy that an open door is offered to the imperialist rubbing their hands. With a decision published in recent days, bringing our Eskişehir mines into the economy sounds very pleasant at first, but the way and method of bringing them into the economy seem a bit nauseating. If every area of our country is being turned into an excavation center to reinforce the increasingly scarce resources of political distribution, it means we are eating, or rather selling, our tomorrow for the sake of the survival of today's ruling power. No matter how hard they try to hold on, there is no tomorrow for us or for the politicians, but if our country is to advance on the path of development and prosperity, this ship must be steered not with words, but with parliamentary decisions made in sincere, open, public, broad environments through consultation and, most importantly, consisting of true representatives of the people, not presidential representatives. A strong politician and strong administration is only the politician who can survive with real and free votes in a parliamentary structure where the principle of separation of powers is applied unadulterated. Because, even if the politician's account cannot be settled instantly, it will definitely be settled by the context in which they take place in political science or political sociology sources in future periods, and it will be seen! Whether a member or leader of the ruling or opposition party, no one under this dome of the sky can escape this reckoning! Because history does not forget and does not lie!
