When the big brother wants it

In historical readings, the timing of events is as significant and indicative as the causes themselves. For instance, it is not coincidental that utopian socialism, which developed in France in the early seventeenth century, transformed into scientific socialism in the second half; nor is it a coincidence that Charles Dickens wrote "A Tale of Two Cities," which depicts the intense labor exploitation and the enslavement of peoples resulting from the industrial restructuring in 1840s England—these are linked in a cause-and-effect relationship. Similarly, the 1789 French Revolution and the emergence of the United States on the historical stage in 1776 were not coincidental. In short, my point is that when we look at the flow of history, similar events develop and emerge on the historical stage within certain time segments, sometimes depending on the political environment and sometimes on the formation of an intellectual climate. Indeed, is it a coincidence that philosophical movements, the great philosophers who have reached our age, or those who have gifted humanity with great works in the field of classical music—which we still enjoy listening to today—were all geniuses who generally lived in the same period?

?Coming to the present day; the rapidly unfolding political events, which are dizzying, should be welcomed for the sake of silencing weapons, ending conflicts and human deaths—in short, for establishing a system that respects peace, tranquility, and human rights. Having established this main point, I believe it is necessary to focus on some issues in the context of the convergence of events and as interesting coincidences.

?The first of these is that such complex events intersect at the most optimal time for all parties, with a skill almost resembling the magic of Zati Sungur. For some reason, the politicians of the parties that have been in conflict for nearly half a century and have carried the pain of thousands of lives lost in their hearts, acting in isolation from their grassroots, suddenly decide to set out toward a sacred peace! During this period, again for some reason, we are witnessing the intensification of efforts to form a political alliance in Turkey—at a time when it is in dire need of external resources—aimed at forcing the creation of a new constitution that would ensure a life-long, monarchy-like rule under the guise of formal democracy. And finally, all these events are taking place at the very moment when Syria is being resolved by force and borders are being redrawn in the Middle East, as if to ring in the ears of Condoleezza Rice. Power must be something like this!

?In the boiling Middle East, Israel is seizing the most favorable environment in history to establish the state they claim was promised to them in the Torah, while the reshaping of the Middle East—both for Israel's security and to cut off the possibility of China reaching into the Middle East and to contain it—is an indispensable necessity of the Israel-US partnership. From this perspective, wouldn't the establishment of a new state after the "area clearing"—which could include Iraq, Syria, Iran, and Turkey, instead of the weak Syria and Iraq—both end meaningless proxy conflicts and, more importantly, create a "proxy-governed" state, ring in the ears of Condoleezza Rice? In short, looking at the issue solely from the perspective of Turkey-PKK and the politics and powers of the parties involved is too simplistic; an area clearing is being carried out in the Middle East by the will of great powers. In this area clearing, some are forced to participate in the clearing, some positively and some negatively, but in both cases, all parties are forced to settle for their rights in exchange for some superficial and temporary benefits. Undoubtedly, it was clear that once the Syrian issue was resolved with the formula of toppling Assad and removing Russia from the region, the others would follow like a house of cards. Moreover, the relative interests that the parties could not achieve with their own power are also being protected in this area clearing. The Western political approach can be seen as a "liberal-looking political attack" tactic, where goals are achieved by biding time with such an approach.

?While an area clearing is being carried out in the Middle East by the US and Israel, past accounts that have been continuously scratched over a long period of time were bound to come to the agenda. While the Ottoman Empire was dissolving and the Republic of Turkey was being established, the US's attitude toward the Treaty of Lausanne, and the fact that while all peoples under the Empire established their own states as the Empire disintegrated, only one people—the Kurdish people—did not establish or were not allowed to establish their own state, is a subject that needs the analysis of historians. While the unity of the Kurdish and Turkish peoples in the War of Independence and the defense of the homeland formed a very bright scene in history, one would have hoped that the situation into which the capitalism entered with the 1924 Constitution would not have been experienced! However, it would be more accurate to attribute this situation not so much to the political preference base, but rather to the "nation-state" structuring philosophy of the period on one hand, and to the unresolved feudal structures in late-capitalizing economies, along with the need for initial capital accumulation and the impulse for development, on the other.

?Turkey has not yet completed the political mission it took on with the political cadre of 2002, in line with the goals of the 2000 IMF program. There is a need for a change of scene, but there is no suitable candidate; perhaps they are being disciplined under pressure and taught the lesson! In this case, providing some financial and moral support to Turkey, which is in a difficult economic situation, to buy time would be useful and could grease the process. Like a game of billiards, while sending the ball into the pocket, Iran gets hurt, loses power in line with Israel's interests, and perhaps even disintegrates. As for Turkey, not only would an eternal office be established in the new constitution, but the form of political administration would be transformed from a unitary system to a feudal system, and perhaps even to a confederal form of government during the transition process. Once a life-long state protection guarantee, such as a person-specific eternal presidency or honorary presidency, etc., is given in the constitution, the rest will be solved anyway; in the witty expression of the late Demirel, the issue ceases to be an issue! Conditions for social compliance with the new constitution had been prepared for a long time. First, sub-identities were being brought to the fore that would ensure the deterioration of nation-state structures in developing nations like ours, exactly as the neo-liberal system does. In our country, which has the appearance of a marbling pattern, sacred identities as well as racial sub-identities were inevitably to be made functional. I am of the opinion that it is more accurate to see the rise of the headscarf and religiousness, which we witnessed especially during the AKP period, as aimed at the target of the major international project, and to see the AKP as a tool for the operation of this goal.

?Lenin's "right of nations to self-determination" is an important political-philosophical rule. It is inevitable to address this political-philosophical rule in the context of the economic system applied on one hand, and the nation-state understanding and the means-ends relationship on the other.
