A process serving the GMEP that goes beyond constitutional change

AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered his long-anticipated "historic" speech today at his party's consultation and evaluation meeting. It had been claimed days in advance that this speech would mark a critical threshold. Moreover, this statement came just one day after the symbolic "laying down of arms" ceremony organized by the PKK in Sulaymaniyah, which felt like a Hollywood production.

To be frank, I was anticipating that Erdoğan might announce an alliance with the DEM Party today.

I still had some questions in my mind. I was asking, "Would they really go this far, would they contradict their own rhetoric to this extent?"

But when we look at the AKP's past, we see that doing the exact opposite of what they say is no longer an exception, but a rule. Whatever they have said, the opposite has happened; whoever they have attacked with whatever rhetoric, they have eventually sat at the same table with them.

When it suited them, they used Mecca or Gaza as a bargaining chip for their interests. On some days they took refuge in Atatürk and Atatürkists, while on others they called Mustafa Kemal Pasha a "drunkard." While they were thick as thieves with the US and Israel, they would make statements in public squares starting with "Hey, Israel!" while engaging in billion-dollar trade.

How strange it is that despite repeating these contradictory attitudes time and again, they have continued to receive applause from their voters.

The relationships established with structures declared "terrorist" during election periods for the sake of staying in power help us understand the point we have reached today more clearly. This is not just a power bargain, but also a major transformation project intended to be crowned with constitutional change. However, even the constitutional change remains in the shadow of the true objective.

Behind this process lies a scenario written by imperialist centers, led by the US. Erdoğan's words, which he once stated openly, "I am a co-chair of the Greater Middle East Project (GMEP)," still remain fresh in memory.

Turkey is facing a process today that is step-by-step dismantling its nation-state structure and targeting the founding values of the Republic.

In his speech yesterday, Erdoğan repeatedly emphasized "Turk, Kurd, Arab." These repetitions are certainly not coincidental. This emphasis is an expression of an effort to create a new "Turkey of partners." The goal is to detach the Republic of Turkey from its historical identity and transform it into a disposable structure under US influence, under the name of the "Anatolia Republic." The purpose of the war started in Syria is now seen more clearly, and the plan behind the migration is becoming crystal clear.

This project has been advanced step by step for a long time. It has been systematically put into practice by political Islamist cadres. At the point we have reached, it is clear that we have moved into a phase where results are about to be obtained.

We are in a period where economic destruction is deepening, laborers are living at the hunger threshold, retirees cannot shop at the market, fathers who cannot buy trousers for their children are committing suicide, justice is being destroyed, and the law is being silenced. This darkness is managed not only by the political power but also by perception operations pumped through the media.

For this reason, there is a need for a call to real struggle.

From Atatürkists to socialists, from republicans to communists; from non-governmental organizations to associations, from teachers to doctors, from the youth to the elderly, it is now a necessity for every segment to meet on a common ground. Everyone who wants to protect their right to life and their country needs to fight to defend the Republic, democracy, secularism, and the nation-state.

We are not only facing political Islamist reactionism, but also the allied imperialist interventions that create and feed it. The front of the struggle is broad, but the common point of this front is very clear: to defend the integrity and founding values of the Republic of Turkey.
