Democracy with a reversed compass! The politics of operations from the Islands to Ankara

Ankara's desk-bound engineering marvels continue to be staged in the provinces and on the Islands with a tragic repertoire. The familiar games, first tested and succeeded in Üsküdar, are now being staged on the Islands. The result is well-known... The key to the mayoralty has been taken from the will of the people and delivered into the pockets of mechanisms that design consent.

What a strange era we live in. The ballot boxes sealed by the votes of the people no longer have any validity at all. 

For those in power in the government, the criteria for victory have changed; they have begun to measure success not by the rate of "opened ballot boxes," but by the balance sheets of "operations" and "resignations." And to put it even more bluntly, by the number of municipalities that have been 'seized'...

The parliamentary arithmetic shaped in the shadows of courthouse corridors has evaporated the pure will of the voter. It has ignored it, razed it to the ground. We all know that the theft of will is far more despicable than simple theft. 

In its place, a "palace law" carved according to the comfort of the ruling power has taken root.

That famous fairy tale of "advanced democracy" that has been on everyone's lips for years turned out to be nothing more than walking while holding the compass backward! 

Every time they called it an "advanced" move, they actually broke the backbone of democracy one more time. As of the point we have reached now, this situation is clearly registered. Those who saw democracy as a train to board and get off when the time came, and who saw it as "nothing more than the ballot box," have succeeded in burying that ballot box into history entirely.

It is understood that the craft at which the new regime is most skilled is writing "advanced" on the sign while, in practice, running backward with premeditation.

The founders of playing at populism despite the people, of usurping the will and calling it "national will," will ultimately become victims of this political desert they have created themselves. 

But until that day comes, what remains is not only a rule-of-law state turned into ruins, but stolen hopes. Isn't that what hurts the most anyway?
