A new phase has begun in the Russia-Ukraine war. It is now being assessed that Russia has won the war in absolute terms.

Last week, Russia entered Kharkiv. It has been reflected in the international public sphere that the US has expressed in its meetings with Ukraine that it is time to sit at the negotiating table.

So, what is really happening in Ukraine?

When I communicate with Turkish businesspeople living in Ukraine, they state that the picture is not at all encouraging for Ukrainians.

As is known, Ukrainian nationalism had peaked at the beginning of the war. There was a resistance against Russia that was stronger than expected.

It was even reported that Ukrainian men had turned into 300 Spartans and were very eager to write a heroic story. Let me remind you that queues had formed at military recruitment offices in Kyiv.

However, the situation is now the exact opposite.

Now, many Ukrainian men do not leave their homes for fear of being conscripted; shopping is done by women.

WAR CONDITIONS ARE VERY DIFFICULT

It is believed that Kyiv is well-protected against air strikes with the facilities provided by the US and Germany.

Ukrainians are informed about missile attacks through applications they download to their phones. It is stated that Kyiv is generally safe.

War conditions, however, are extremely difficult. This is because a process has turned into a ground war, and it is reported that soldiers from both sides are mostly facing each other on the field and that close-quarters combat is taking place.

On the other hand, I have received information that some Ukrainian men are producing various formulas to dodge the draft. The escape formulas of the men dodging the draft are quite interesting.

Some wear Jewish clothing and greet police at checkpoints by saying "Shalom"; others are reportedly imitating Dagestani Muslims who grow beards without mustaches. In this way, they are sending the message, "I am not Ukrainian, I belong to other nations, Jewish or Muslim."

As can be predicted, the state of the Ukrainian economy is not very bright either.

I learned that at certain times of the month, there is a period of abundance associated with financial support coming from foreign countries. Retail sales increase during these days, then become stagnant again.

What is interesting is the information I obtained that the economic situation of the soldiers of both countries is strengthening.

It is reported that women in both countries have accelerated their diamond purchases, and that especially the wives of high-ranking Russian soldiers are turning to buying diamonds.

Most importantly, major brands affiliated with the US and European countries that have supported Ukraine since the beginning of the war continue their trade where they left off.

For example, the famous US fast-food brand McDonald's has only changed its name in Russia. Famous brands such as McDonald's, Zara, H&M, and KFC continue their trade without any interruption. It is a visible reality that European and US brands continue to sell products and services by just changing their signs. As you can see, capitalist interests are being laid bare in the Ukraine war, just as they always are.

THE PUBLIC WANTS NEGOTIATIONS

The Germans also continue their trade through countries such as Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Georgia. It is possible to say that the Russian economy is not affected by the war as the US and European media reflect.

It is reported that the Ukrainian public has now accepted defeat and wants government representatives to sit at the table with Russia before the process gets worse.

In addition, the Ukrainian state is making payments at a rate of eighty percent of losses to reduce reactions to real estate losses in regions where Russia has declared its dominance. This payment can only be used for real estate purchases and is actually considered an indicator that the war has been definitively lost. Thus, it is aimed to reduce the reactions against Zelensky.
