The essence of the problems is the will of one man
It must be stated clearly and loudly that the crisis Turkey is experiencing today goes far beyond just an economic crisis or a financial scandal.
This dark picture, extending from the judiciary to the bureaucracy, and from the economy to the social fabric, stands before us as a painful consequence of a deep systemic disintegration and the loss of state decorum.
The essence of the problem is that all authority and will are concentrated in one man... Thus, oversight mechanisms have been rendered dysfunctional, and endless avenues have been opened for the 'elements of the one-man regime' to obtain personal gain under any circumstances.
Criminal hubs have become state-like. This is exactly one of the most terrifying things that can happen to a people....
The institutional capacity of the state has weakened. Meritocracy and lawlessness have practically turned into a standard form of governance. Destructive developments have collapsed the economy and, along with it, social morality. Lies, manipulation, and perception management have become normalized. Crimes and sins have been veiled with faith.
Government circles, detached from oversight and suffering from power poisoning, have built a closed criminal system that protects its members around common interests.
The reality that has emerged is a severe social destruction where justice, transparency, and the consciousness of collective wisdom have been demolished. Morality, conscience, and compassion have collapsed.
I often ask myself, "How far will this go, where will it end, what will we lose, or will we be able to protect what remains and get the republic back on its feet?" Like many of us, these questions are constantly circulating in my mind. Although I often find myself in deep despair, I watch the flowers of hope bloom again within me every time. Because history has shown us time and again that systems where rules and institutions do not function are unsustainable.
The most urgent and vital task for all layers of Turkish society is to leave behind structures based on the rule of individuals and to rebuild a functioning state of law with clear rules and strong institutional capacity.
It is our collective responsibility to uphold secularism, science, enlightenment, and the defense of a humane life, which are the guarantees of democracy. It is impossible to heal the wounds of this country and our people without restoring the state to its transparent and fair identity.
