Couldn't you find another jacket to wear, Mr. Özgür?

Don't leave your news choices to an algorithm - decide for yourself what you read. Add 12punto to your preferred sources!

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel has been the focus of criticism for some time... You are aware of the debate he entered into with journalist Yılmaz Özdil.

A segment of CHP politicians, writers, and intellectuals have placed CHP Chairman Özgür Özel in their crosshairs.

These individuals accuse Özel of failing to ignite the 'fire of early elections' after the local elections where the CHP emerged as the leading party, and even of turning the party into a spare tire for Erdoğan.

Özgür Özel, however, absolutely rejects these criticisms, stating, 'We will both struggle and negotiate'...

***

Both sides have their own valid justifications.

Those who criticize him argue that it will be difficult for the CHP to find such a favorable time and ground again, and that Özgür Özel and his team are making mistakes.

Özgür Özel, on the other hand, tries to explain the damage that being 'aggressive' has caused his party, saying, 'We will never surrender, but we will use every platform to convey the people's troubles to Erdoğan and his party.'

You decide who is a little more right and who is wrong...

My concern is the jacket!

***

Because, as if we didn't have any other problems, we fell into a "jacket dilemma" yesterday!

This time, CHP leader Özgür Özel wore the blue plaid jacket that has become identified with President Erdoğan and is referred to as the "election-winning jacket"...

Özel met with Ayşe Ateş, the wife of the former Ülkü Ocakları president who was murdered in the heart of Ankara, for the second time yesterday.

Following the meeting, Ayşe Ateş shared a photo taken during her visit to Özgür Özel on social media...

And that was the moment all hell broke loose...

***

It really is a great misfortune!

Oh, Mr. Özgür...

Is your only concern to look like Erdoğan?

If I didn't know you had been a CHP member for years and what you have done for the success of this party, even I would have thought you were a fanatical AKP supporter when I saw that photo.

I might have even called you the 'Trojan Horse of the AKP within the CHP'!

For heaven's sake, couldn't you find any other jacket to wear?

Of all those advisors, deputies, and party officials around you, didn't even one of them tell you that wearing a jacket identified with Erdoğan would damage your image?

***

Mr. Özgür…

Whoever made you wear that jacket, sit them down and have a talk…

If it was your wife, it's clear she isn't involved in politics… Ask her not to interfere with your attire, grooming, or image again.

It's obvious she can't handle it.

No; if it wasn't your wife or daughter, but rather an advisor who took on the role of 'image maker'… terminate their position immediately!

Because by making you wear that jacket, they handed a major weapon to those who say, 'Özgür Özel has completely fallen into Erdoğan's wake. He is under his influence. He is turning the CHP into a sidekick for the AKP'…

***

If you absolutely must wear someone else's jacket, wear the jacket of the country's and the party's founding leader, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, Mr. Özgür...

Don't just wear his jacket; in defiance of those who call him and his closest comrade-in-arms 'two drunks,' walk firmly in his footsteps.

I am not saying 'drink raki with white chickpeas,' but...

Be like him!

For instance, forget those 'social democracy' tall tales that have become slaves to capitalism...

Revolutionism...

Secularism...

Statism...

Nationalism...

Populism...

And explain Republicanism to the people one by one...

Explain Kemalism directly, without using the 'Atatürkism' softener!

***

I hope you understand me, Mr. Özgür...

I truly care about the success you achieved in the election and I want you to be given at least as much of a chance as Mr. Kemal was.

But do not waste the good intentions of those who think like me by wearing ridiculous jackets and trying to emulate men who insult our Founding Father...

Let's talk about your service, not your jacket!

Now...

Fire that advisor...

And never wear that jacket again...
