Are you 'VAR' or not?

The third week of the Süper Lig concluded last night with the final matches.

What didn't happen in Turkish football from Friday to Monday…

The penalty awarded with the intervention of VAR in the Galatasaray-Göztepe match left its mark on the week and sparked controversy.

Then, another VAR scandal occurred in the Samsunspor-Fenerbahçe match. As early as the fourth minute, VAR did not intervene, and a clear penalty for Fenerbahçe was overlooked.

As if that weren't enough, Fenerbahçe's Semedo stepped on his opponent's foot in such a way that the position was a clear red card. VAR didn't even bother to get involved in that either!

In the second week, it hadn't intervened when Trossard was slapped during the Alanya away game either.

In other words, no one has yet figured out what VAR actually does.

The question is simple:

Are you VAR, or are you not?

Thank God there weren't many positions requiring referee intervention in the Amedspor-Trabzonspor and Beşiktaş-Çorumspor matches.

But everyone has the same question in mind:

How will this league continue with these referees?

In some matches, a foreign VAR referee, in others, a Turkish one…

But they are all much of a muchness.

The appointments are also interesting in their own right.

The assistant VAR referee for the Samsunspor-Fenerbahçe match is appointed as the assistant VAR referee for the Beşiktaş-Çorumspor match less than 24 hours later.

Are there no other people?

Isn't it a pity for this man too? Get up from Samsun, come here, and play another match the next day!

Such strange things are happening that it is truly mind-boggling.

For example, Beşiktaş was wronged in Alanya. The Beşiktaş Club President and executives made statements, and million-lira fines were issued.

Previously, Fenerbahçe executive Mahmut Uslu had also been fined for his statements. His fine was canceled by the Arbitration Board. Subsequently, the fines of the Beşiktaş executives were also lifted.

So what do these cancellations show?

It means that the outcries and complaints made have at least some response.

But don't you find it strange that despite all this, nothing changes in the Central Referee Committee (MHK)?

Let's come to the beautiful side of football…

This week was the week of the goalscorers.

While Galatasaray is being criticized for the football it plays, its transfers, or lack thereof, Victor Osimhen continues to score his goals.

Vedat Muriç, who returned to Fenerbahçe after six years, is already showing what a good center-forward he is and what kind of experience he has gained abroad over the years.

Dusan Vlahovic, the super striker from whom Beşiktaş expects a lot, opened the curtain by scoring a hat-trick with three goals.

Mohamed Salah at Trabzonspor continues to score his goals even if Trabzon loses points.

In other words, no matter how poorly those who manage football do their jobs, the goalscorers of the Süper Lig are doing the exact opposite.

At least they are satisfying the football fans.

And one must give Caesar what is Caesar's…

Anatolian clubs have really started the season well.

Leaving aside Çorum conceding half a dozen goals from Beşiktaş last night, they showed that they will be one of the important teams of the league with the football they played both in the Galatasaray match and against Beşiktaş.

Yes, they conceded six goals from Beşiktaş.

But this also has something to do with Beşiktaş gradually becoming a ruthless team.

Otherwise, Çorumspor will add color to this league with its desire to play, its quality players, and its football that doesn't just sit back and wait for the opponent.

Amedspor is the same.

Even though they beat Trabzonspor on their home turf with a last-minute goal, the struggle they put up was applauded.

This season, the Süper Lig could really be very enjoyable.

But unfortunately, in Turkey, football is not just played on the pitch.

Now we have the Fenerbahçe-Beşiktaş derby ahead of us.

The entire attention of the public is focused on this match.

And there is something else I am as curious about as the players:

What kind of referee will the MHK appoint for this match, and what kind of officiating will we see?

An opportunistic officiating that thinks "let neither the skewer nor the meat burn" and tries not to upset anyone?

A referee who blows the whistle with the calculation that "a draw maintains the balance of the league"?

Or will we really watch the stars on the pitch, the struggle, and the football?

We will all see this together.

But if we still have to ask the same question at the end of the third week, there is a serious problem:

Are you VAR, or are you not?
