Who are these people calling for a caliphate?

You have surely come across it on social media: a video about those calling for a caliphate in London… 

A group of 4-5 people are walking around on the street saying, 'We want a caliphate.' 

Those who have had the chance to see the world's major metropolises know this. In cities like New York, London, and Berlin, seeing people walking around with megaphones is not something to be surprised by at all.

Some of these people stationed on busy streets sing, "Follow the Savior Jesus Christ," while others shout, "Those who do not follow Moses will suffer torment." Some even demand Sharia. They usually have a collection box in front of them and try to raise donations. 

There are many of these in London as well. On the busiest streets, sometimes members of three different religions exhaust themselves trying to drown out each other's voices with megaphones from opposite sidewalks. 

Why am I sharing this information? 

In advanced democracies, no one interferes with three or five people expressing their opinions like this. Intervention only happens during large-scale protests. 

In other words, no one cares about those walking the streets of London saying, "We want Sharia or we want a caliphate." Because everyone knows that the demands of these individuals are nonsense.

Let's come to the uproar that has been stirred up in our country for the past few days…

The crisis first began with the match that Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray were to play for the Super Cup in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia! 

Permission was not granted for Atatürk t-shirts and a banner featuring a quote from the Great Leader during the warm-up in the 100th year of the Republic of Turkey.

The crisis, which resulted in our two clubs refusing to play the match, divided Turkey in two. While one segment reacted to Saudi Arabia, another segment targeted those who were reacting. They even accused Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray of carrying out an operation! 

What didn't the types we are used to seeing on social media say? Some called it a preparation for a new Gezi. Some called it Ekrem İmamoğlu's game. Others reminded people of July 15. 

Following the immediate reactions, President Erdoğan made a statement yesterday: "We have seen that a campaign is being conducted to undermine tourism, which is one of our country's most important sources of income during the summer months. Now we see that a similar situation is being attempted through sports. Countries are being targeted with hate speech. We are facing a fury that borders on Islamophobia. The opposition is acting as a voluntary extra in this base politics. It is by no means a coincidence that countries with which our country has the most important commercial partnerships are being targeted. There is a clear attempt at sabotage against Turkey's interests. Just as we have torn up and discarded previous dirty scenarios, we will certainly thwart this game as well," he said. 

Last night, according to news in the official Saudi Arabian agency SPA, the Council of Ministers met in the capital Riyadh, chaired by King Salman bin Abdulaziz.

Information Minister Salman bin Yousef Al-Dossary announced that the memorandum of understanding on cooperation regarding the promotion of direct investments, which had been previously signed between Saudi Arabia and Turkey, was approved at the meeting.

In other words, the crisis at the Super Cup final did not affect the two countries commercially. However, it created social anger in Turkey. 

Following a march in support of Palestine, a university student punched an individual for carrying a 'Tawhid flag'. Then, another young person slapped that student in front of the police. The one who threw the punch was arrested, and the one who slapped was released. 

An investigation was launched into Fatih Altaylı, who said "bless your hands" to the one who threw the punch. 

At Anıtkabir, a person cursed the Republic and called for Sharia.

Tuğçe Kazaz, a former model and self-proclaimed philosopher famous for changing her religion, did not stay idle and made a statement about the caliphate! The former model, who has changed her religion 4 times as far as we know, said in her post, "This is an observation; tell the young man who broke the nose of the uncle who opened a caliphate flag at the Galata Bridge march for our martyrs and Palestine in Istanbul, Turkey will have fully transitioned to the caliphate system by 2030. Because the conditions in the region will force Turkey into this."

But where did this desire for a caliphate come from?

Can the crowd on social media who exhaust themselves saying "We want a caliphate" even read that this is impossible?

Who will be the caliph, for example? 

Or would all Muslim countries say 'yes' to this?

Would the architects of the moderate Islam construct allow a Caliph? To whom would they agree to give such power? 

We can multiply these questions, of course, but even if we write about the historical, political, and economic reasons, the trolls trying to stir this up will not accept it anyway. They won't even understand…

Let us say it for those who understand. The real reason for all this chaos is, of course, the approaching local elections and the creation of an artificial agenda. Therefore, my advice is that there is no need to even get angry at the three or five ignorant people making provocative posts on social media. 

As I stated at the beginning of the article, even if they walk the streets with megaphones, the Republic will not be destroyed, nor will a caliphate come to this country… 

Do not take them seriously!
